This skull is from an adult female crab-eating macaque (Macaca fascicularis), also known as the long-tailed macaque or cynomolgus (dog-skin) monkey. The teeth are complete and show little wear. The jaw is glued to the skull for ease of transport, but could be easily removed. Sourced from a local taxidermy/oddities shop.
The crab-eating macaque lives in matrilineal social groups with a female-dominant social hierarchy, with male members leaving the group when they reach puberty. They are opportunistic omnivores, and have been documented using tools to obtain food, a testament to their intelligence and determination.
